A 4-year-old child drowned in a hotel pool in Brescia, Italy. After the incident, the lifeless body of 36-year-old lifeguard Matteo Formenti, who was accused of negligence on social media, was found hanging from a tree in a wooded area.
A tragic incident in the city of Brescia, located in northern Italy, has left a deep wound not only in one family but in the heart of an entire community. Following the drowning of a 4-year-old child in a hotel swimming pool, the lifeguard who held himself responsible for the incident also took his own life.
4-YEAR-OLD CHILD DROWNED IN THE POOL
According to reports in the foreign press, the 4-year-old child lost his life in the pool in front of his family. Hotel guests and staff who witnessed the moment were in great shock, and the incident quickly spread throughout the city.
LIFEGUARD'S BODY FOUND
On the day of the tragedy, 36-year-old lifeguard Matteo Formenti, who was responsible for the pool's safety, became a target on social media. Faced with severe accusations and criticisms of negligence from users, Formenti came under immense psychological pressure.
The young man was found dead a few days later, hanging from a tree in a wooded area. Formenti, known in the city as a good swimmer and passionate about water sports, committed suicide, leading to a second wave of mourning.

Brescia Mayor Gabriele Zotti expressed the following after the events: "Both incidents are a tragedy for us. Do not judge others on social media and use it responsibly." As the city was shaken by these two consecutive tragedies, the consequences of the pressure exerted through social media once again became a topic of discussion in the public sphere.
