Prof. Dr. Orhan Ekren, a former faculty member of Ege University and a member of the TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers İzmir Branch, has been missing since November 26, 2021, after relocating to Milton Keynes, England with his wife and two children. After starting to live in England, Ekren worked for a private company related to energy and was last seen around 10:30 PM in London, where he went to apply for a visa. FOUND DEAD IN THE CANALDuring the search efforts, Ekren's backpack and wet clothes were found near the Camden Lock Regent's canal. His wife, Banu Ekren, who works as a lecturer at Cranfield University, announced that Prof. Dr. Orhan Ekren's lifeless body was found in the mentioned canal on December 15. It was reported that after the autopsy procedures in England were completed, Ekren's funeral would be held in the Torbalı district of İzmir. "INVESTIGATION CONTINUES"Banu Ekren stated that her husband was found by an official in the Regent canal around 10:00 AM on December 15. She expressed that they were informed by the police that evening, saying, "We were told that Orhan Ekren's lifeless body was taken to the nearest morgue for identification. On December 17, we confirmed the identification through a photo taken by the police. Currently, the autopsy procedures and the investigation conducted by the police are ongoing."
