The list of "districts that will become provinces," which has been debated in Turkey for a long time, has been updated again. Five new districts have been added to the study prepared based on criteria such as population, economy, industry, and strategic location. Due to the rapid growth in the Marmara, Aegean, and Mediterranean regions, districts such as Gebze, Lüleburgaz, Alanya, Fethiye, İnegöl, and İskenderun have emerged as the highest potential candidates for becoming provinces.
The list of "districts with high potential to become provinces" that has been debated in Turkey for a long time has been updated again. In the study prepared based on criteria such as population, economy, industry, transportation, and strategic location, 5 new districts have been added to the list.
THE LIST HAS BEEN RESTRUCTURED
A new assessment has been published regarding the long-standing question in Turkey, "which districts will become provinces?" In the study prepared by "Talking Maps," factors such as population density, economic size, industrial capacity, tourism potential, logistics networks, geographical location, and administrative needs were taken into account. While 5 new districts have been added to the updated list, the number of districts with the potential to become provinces has increased compared to previous years.
GROWING POPULATION AND INDUSTRY BRING NEW PROVINCES TO THE AGENDA
According to experts, especially the rapid population growth and industrial density along the Marmara, Aegean, and Mediterranean lines are increasing the burden on existing provinces. Criteria such as port trade, heavy industry, tourism, and strategic location are among the main factors determining the inclusion of candidate districts in the list. It is noteworthy that high-population cities such as Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Kocaeli, İzmir, Balıkesir, Muğla, and Antalya stand out in terms of districts expected to become provinces.
