9-year-old Galatasaray fan Yiğit Kurt, who lost his life in a traffic accident in the Susurluk district of Balıkesir, was laid to rest in Bodrum, Muğla, amid tears. The funeral was attended by İbrahim Hatipoğlu, a member of the Board of Directors of Galatasaray Sports Club, Selahattin Polat, Vice President of Bodrum FK, and Volkan Demirel, the head coach of Bodrum FK. MINI YİĞİT WAS LAID TO RESTSerkan Kurt and his 9-year-old son Yiğit Kurt, a football player at Galatasaray Sports School, were on their way to Istanbul to watch the Galatasaray-Tottenham match when they were injured in a collision with a truck in the Susurluk district of Balıkesir. Yiğit was declared brain dead at the hospital he was taken to. A funeral ceremony was held for Yiğit, whose organs were donated by his family, at the Gülsevim Rüştü Kaynak Mosque in Bodrum. Father Serkan and mother Pınar Kurt struggled to hold back tears as they stood by the coffin wrapped in a Galatasaray flag. After the noon prayer, following the funeral prayer and receiving permission, Yiğit was laid to rest in Bitez Cemetery. VOLKAN DEMİREL ALSO ATTENDED THE FUNERALThe funeral was attended by Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalincı, Bodrum District Governor Mustafa Çit, Bodrum District Youth and Sports Director Oktay Dumruk, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, a member of the Board of Directors of Galatasaray Sports Club, Selahattin Polat, Vice President of Bodrum FK, Volkan Demirel, head coach of Bodrum FK, Bodrum FK players Celal Dumanlı, Erkan Değişmez, and Taylan Antalyalı, relatives of the Kurt family, fans, and many Galatasaray supporters. HIS ORGANS GAVE HOPE TO 4 CHILDRENThe organs of 9-year-old Yiğit Kurt gave hope to a total of 4 children. His family decided to donate his organs to touch other lives. Following the family's decision to donate, Yiğit's heart was sent to a child with congenital heart disease of the same age at Hacettepe University Hospital in Ankara, while his liver and kidneys were set to be transplanted to 3 children at Uludağ University Hospital in Bursa. HE DONATED ALL HIS SAVINGS TO A CHILD WITH SMAFather Serkan Kurt emphasized that organ donation is a very different feeling that connects other people to life. He expressed that they would enable other families to hold on to life, saying, "We have a funeral. Our son is gone, a piece of our soul is gone. We experienced what it means to die while living, but other families will have weddings soon. They will be happy, it is their natural right. My son would want this too; we did everything we could. I know that if even one Galatasaray player comes to my son's funeral, my child will feel it; I want them to come to the funeral." he said. Mother Pınar Kurt shared that her son Yiğit had given all his savings to a child with SMA just a week ago, highlighting his compassion.
