The Bafra Regional Hospital, which was built with funds collected by the public in 1996 and is 85% complete, has been left idle in the forest for years. Transferred to the Ministry of Health in 2000, the hospital could not be completed due to bureaucratic delays and the cancellation of the tender in 2006. The local community is waiting for a solution for the healthcare investment they initiated years ago through collective effort.
The need for healthcare services in the Bafra district of Samsun mobilized the public in 1996 through a collective effort. When sufficient government support was not provided, citizens came together to raise 300,000 TL and began the construction of Bafra Regional Hospital. The hospital, which was 85% completed in a short time, had become a great source of hope for the region in those years.
HOPES TURNED INTO DISAPPOINTMENT
However, hopes gradually turned into disappointment. The hospital, transferred to the Ministry of Health in 2000, got lost in bureaucratic processes. The completion tender held in 2006 was canceled, and no progress was made in the following years. Despite the passing years, the project could not be completed, and the structure was left to its fate.
