An extraordinary event occurred last Thursday in the Indian state of Rajasthan. A 45-year-old man named Rohitash came back to life just as his body was about to be cremated.
Rohitash, who is hearing and speech impaired, had fallen seriously ill while staying at a local shelter and was hospitalized. Doctors declared him dead after his condition worsened. However, without performing the necessary post-mortem examination, the doctors only completed the paperwork and sent the body for cremation.
After being in the cold morgue for three hours, it was noticed that he was breathing just as he was placed on a pile of wood to be cremated. In footage from the scene, a bewildered crowd can be seen around the man wrapped in a blanket.
An ambulance was immediately called, and he was taken to Rajkiya Bhagwan Das Khetan Hospital. However, the sad news came two days later: Rohitash passed away on the morning of November 22, despite all interventions in the intensive care unit.
Due to negligence in the incident, the chief physician and three doctors were suspended. Police Chief Sharad Chouodhary stated, "The doctors completed the paperwork without performing the necessary checks."
A similar incident occurred last year in Iowa, USA. A 66-year-old woman, who was declared dead at a care facility, was found breathing inside a body bag at the funeral home.
