The Ministry of Interior announced that the Mayor of Adalar, Ali Ercan Akpolat, and the Mayor of Silifke, Mustafa Turgut, who were arrested as part of investigations against them, have been suspended from duty.

A new development occurred regarding Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat and Silifke Mayor Mustafa Turgut, who were arrested and sent to prison. The Ministry of Interior announced that both individuals have been suspended from duty.

STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY REGARDING THE MAYORS OF ADALAR AND SILIFKE

The Ministry's statement included the following expressions: "Following the arrest of Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat by the decision of Istanbul Anatolia 3rd Criminal Court of Peace dated 23.06.2026 and numbered 2026/711 inquiry, within the scope of the investigation conducted against him for the crimes of 'establishing an organization to commit a crime and accepting bribes';

And following the arrest of Silifke Mayor Mustafa Turgut by the decision of the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office dated 22.06.2026 and numbered 2026/2236 inquiry, within the scope of the investigation conducted against him for the crimes of 'establishing an organization to commit a crime and accepting bribes';

In accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipality Law No. 5393, they have been suspended from their duties by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure. Respectfully announced to the public."
