In the 8-article declaration issued after the National Security Council meeting held in Beştepe under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan, full determination regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process was emphasized, and attention was also drawn to the FETÖ threat. In the declaration, the 'path to achieving the goals of a Terror-Free Turkey and a Terror-Free Region' was described as a historic milestone. It was underlined that the fight against FETÖ would continue unabated.
The National Security Council (MGK) meeting, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Complex, lasted approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The 8-article MGK statement issued after the meeting included important assessments regarding the fight against terrorism, regional security, foreign policy, and international developments.
The 8-article statement issued after the MGK meeting is as follows;
1. THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM WILL CONTINUE DECISIVELY
At the MGK, the operations carried out domestically and across the borders against threats to Turkey's national unity and integrity, primarily PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH, were evaluated. Council members were briefed on the latest status of the operations.
2. THE GOAL OF A 'TERROR-FREE TURKEY' AND A 'TERROR-FREE REGION'
In the statement, it was noted that the efforts carried out in line with the goals of a "Terror-Free Turkey" and a "Terror-Free Region" have reached an important stage, and it was stated that new steps to make security, stability, and prosperity permanent were discussed.
3. MESSAGE OF DETERMINATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST FETO
In the evaluations made within the scope of the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, it was emphasized that the fight against FETO would continue with the same sensitivity and determination.
4. NATO SUMMIT EVALUATED
While the NATO Summit hosted by Turkey was discussed, it was stated that Turkey continues its constructive role within the alliance and will continue to share its capabilities and capacities with its allies.
5. CALL FOR NEGOTIATIONS FOR IRAN-US TENSION
The MGK statement drew attention to the risks posed by the tension between Iran and the US in terms of regional security and global trade. The parties were called upon to avoid the use of force and to return to the negotiation process for lasting peace.
6. CALL FOR DE-ESCALATION IN THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR
The Russia-Ukraine War was also evaluated at the council. In the statement, it was stated that the Black Sea and Caspian Basin should not turn into new conflict zones, and the parties were called upon to take concrete steps to reduce tension.
7. EMPHASIS ON COOPERATION WITH SYRIA AND IRAQ
In the statement, it was expressed that Turkey's multifaceted cooperation developed with Syria and Iraq is important for regional security, peace, and prosperity. It was noted that Turkey will continue to support initiatives that will strengthen regional solidarity.
8. MESSAGE ON GAZA AND AL-AQSA MOSQUE
The latest developments in Gaza were also on the agenda at the MGK. In the statement, while it was noted that Israel continues its violations despite the ceasefire process, it was stated that the settler attacks in Palestinian territories and the actions against holy sites, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, are concerning. The international community was called upon to display a clear and decisive stance in the face of these developments.
