The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry confirmed that a batch of 'aged classic crumbled white cheese' under the Tahsildaroğlu brand was not in compliance with regulations. The business was fined, and the products were recalled from the market for disposal.

The claim that listeria bacteria was found in Tahsildaroğlu brand white cheese, one of Turkey's major milk producers, has been confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

RECALLED FROM THE MARKET

Following the scandal that emerged after a citizen experienced food poisoning due to this product, which is easily found in every market in Turkey, a statement was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The General Directorate of Food and Control reported that the white cheese reflected in the public eye was found not to comply with regulations and that the relevant batch of products was recalled from the market for destruction.

In the statement made by the General Directorate, it was stated that a written explanation was deemed necessary to accurately inform the public about the news appearing in some media outlets and social media platforms. The statement noted that upon a complaint submitted to the Alo 174 Food Hotline on June 16 at 21:15, an official inspection was carried out on June 17 at the retail sales establishment subject to the complaint, and the following was recorded:

"Within the scope of the inspection, a sample was taken from the Tahsildaroğlu brand 'aged classic crumbled white cheese' product with batch number '290625,' subject to the complaint, and promptly sent to the food control laboratory directorate. As a result of analyses conducted by our laboratory, the product was found not to comply with the Turkish Food Codex Microbiological Criteria Regulation. An administrative fine was imposed on the producer company, and products with batch number '290625' were recalled from the market for destruction. Additionally, the inspection frequency of the relevant company was increased, and samples were taken from similar products it produces; the analysis process of these samples is ongoing. If non-compliance is detected, necessary legal actions will be taken. Our Ministry continues its official control activities with determination to ensure food safety and protect consumer health."
