Com special: Super League giant Galatasaray announced that they have signed Alvaro Morata. Galatasaray had to abandon the system they were trying to establish with two forwards at the beginning of the season due to Icardi's unexpected injury in the Tottenham match. Okan Buruk did not even attempt this with the Osimhen-Batshuayi duo. He may have valid reasons for this.
Alvaro Morata, especially in high-stakes matches, can step up during moments when finishing becomes a problem; with a style reminiscent of former Spanish forwards like Raúl, he can easily score goals that seem difficult; he is a player who can play anywhere in the attacking area and has developed team play characteristics, allowing him to create space for his teammates and put them in goal-scoring positions.
The only point that concerns me about the transfer is the possibility of falling victim to the perception that Spanish players have been unsuccessful or are failing in Turkey. Previously, players like Guiza, Soldado, and Negredo, who came directly from the Spanish national team, did not satisfy their teams with their performances. Spanish players are generally suited for team play.
For example, although Osimhen is a player who can perform well regardless of the team's performance, Alvaro Morata is not that type of player. Sometimes you expect him to turn and go for the goal, but he passes the ball to a teammate in a better position, and when the goal is missed, neither an assist nor a goal is recorded. Negredo experienced this situation frequently. If he had been selfish, he could have reached at least twice the numbers, but he prioritized work ethic and the necessities of football. However, Beşiktaş did not keep him.
Morata is undoubtedly an undisputed star. Galatasaray fans will be happier if they focus on his contribution to team play rather than his goal count. This does not mean that Morata will score few goals. Galatasaray is a team that creates many chances and frequently finds themselves in the opponent's penalty area. I believe that Morata's transfer could be very beneficial for Galatasaray. Congratulations.
