Ömer Oğuz, who lives in Adana, thought of turning the truck bed into a pool last month when he and his friends were overwhelmed by the extreme heat.
TURNED THE TRUCK BED INTO A POOL
Oğuz called his friend Mehmet Ali Büdün and said, "Take your mother's tablecloth that she uses for tomato paste and come to the lake." After his friend's call, Büdün took the tablecloth and went to the lakeside, where it was first stretched over the truck bed and then filled with water taken from the Seyhan Dam Lake.
POOL FUN ON THE BUSIEST STREET
Later, the young people began to cool off in the truck bed they had turned into a pool. After a while, Oğuz took his friends to Turgut Özal Boulevard for a ride. However, plainclothes police noticed that the water flowing from the vehicle posed a danger to traffic and reported the situation to the traffic police.
FINES RAINED DOWN
After a while, traffic police stopped the young people and imposed an administrative fine of 60,000 TL on the vehicle owner Oğuz for 'endangering traffic', 'carrying people in the back of the vehicle', and 'not having a driver's license'. They also banned the pickup truck from traffic for 15 days.
SOLD HIS VEHICLE
The vehicle, which was banned from traffic for 15 days, was put up for sale once the period expired and was sold. The 60,000 TL fine was paid by collecting money among the 6 friends.
"I ALSO WANTED MY MOTHER'S TOMATO PASTE TABLECLOTH BACK"
One of the passengers, Mehmet Ali Büdün, said, "We filled the back of the car with water. Three people were in the front of the car, and four were in the back. While we were driving on Turgut Özal Boulevard, the police stopped us and fined us 60,000 TL for three reasons. Our vehicle was banned from traffic for 15 days. We were cooling off in the back of the car and splashing water on the road," he said.
Büdün, stating that the cost of cooling off was 60,000 TL, said, "The 6 friends shared the 60,000 TL. Normally, there was one more friend, but he said he wouldn't pay the fine and left us in a difficult situation. When the vehicle was banned from traffic, I also wanted my mother's tomato paste tablecloth back. My mother will use it for tomato paste. We sold our car, and now when we want to cool off, we prefer the pool. The pool is cheaper," he said.
