The building, which was constructed in 1994 and became a symbol of the city with its color and architectural style, was demolished by the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality through a demolition tender before the earthquakes on February 6, and it appeared first in the search results on the internet search engine Google when 'the world's most ridiculous building' was searched.
BUSINESS CENTER PROJECT IMPLEMENTED
As part of the reconstruction process initiated in Kahramanmaraş after the earthquake, a new business center project has been implemented in this area. The project is aimed to be completed by the end of 2025, and it has been reported that the structure is planned to be a total of 3 stories.
CITIZENS WELCOMED IT POSITIVELY
In the business center project, which is determined to include offices and shops for small tradespeople, it was stated that there will be landscaping and parking areas, and citizens welcomed the prospect of renewed commercial activity in the area positively.
"MAY GOD NOT LET US EXPERIENCE SUCH EARTHQUAKES AGAIN"
Ali Osman Uslu, one of the tradespeople, said, "I have been a tradesman on Trabzon Street for 40 years. May God not let us experience such earthquakes again. Our municipality has provided us with a container in this area. The construction site and the process are difficult, we will manage. Trabzon Street and Azerbaijan Boulevard need to be revitalized. The Special Administration Building was generally not considered for housing; places like offices and bureaus were thought of. We hope it will be nice," he said.
"GOD WILLING, A NEW ONE WILL BE BUILT"
Haydar Yeşil, another tradesman, stated, "This area is the lifeblood of the city. Our special administration building was very solid and needed to be demolished, and the authorities did so. God willing, a new one will be built. We don't have much information about the ongoing construction works," he said.
