The suspect who confessed to the murder of Mezdeke dancer Aynur Kanbur, killed in a armed attack in front of her home in Istanbul's Şişli district in 2016, said he introduced himself as a courier to get the door opened and killed Kanbur after an argument. The suspect stated, "When she came at me with curses saying, 'No one can mess with me,' I pulled out the 9mm handmade gun from my waist and fired 3-4 shots into her body," and added that he threw the murder weapon into the Bosphorus.

In the armed attack in front of her home in Istanbul's Şişli district on March 24, 2016, the suspect Bülent G. confessed to the murder of Aynur Kanbur and said in his statement that he threw the unlicensed pistol used in the incident into the Bosphorus by boarding a boat.

Under the coordination of the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department established by the order of Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office re-examined the file. Teams retrospectively examining public transportation and Istanbulkart movements from the day of the incident determined that the suspect was Bülent G., who got on the metrobus in Avcılar and came to Mecidiyeköy. It was determined that the suspect under surveillance had turned off his phone before and after the incident and was linked to other relatives F.K., S.K., and Y.K., whose HTS records were previously examined due to claims that the victim had been threatened.

"HE THOUGHT I WAS A COURIER AND OPENED THE BUILDING DOOR"

In his interrogation at the police station, Bülent G., who confessed to committing the murder alone, said: "On the day of the incident, I left my home in Avcılar and came to Mecidiyeköy by metrobus. Since the weather was rainy and cold, I had a hat and a hooded jacket on my head. I went to Aynur Kanbur's residence in Fulya and rang the bell. When she asked 'Who is it?' through the intercom, I said 'You have a package' and introduced myself as a courier. She thought I was a courier and opened the building door. When the door opened, I headed to the apartment on the ground floor; its door was open.

"SHE CAME AT ME WITH CURSES, SO I FIRED"

She didn't recognize me at first because of the hood and hat I was wearing. Referring to our past argument, I said, 'You have damaged our family's reputation. You don't realize what kind of family member you are. You are making our uncle Şevki's bones ache; you have tarnished our family's name.' I could not accept her being a dancer as a family member. When Aynur raised her voice and said, 'What business is it of yours? No one can interfere with me,' and came at me with curses, I drew the 9 mm handmade pistol from my waist and fired 3-4 shots at her body."

"I THREW THE MURDER WEAPON INTO THE BOSPHORUS"

The suspect stated that after the incident, he went on foot to Beşiktaş Ihlamurdere Street, from there took a bus on Barbaros Boulevard, and went to the restaurant in Rumelihisarı where he worked. The suspect confessed that a few days later, he threw the unlicensed pistol used in the murder into the sea in the middle of the Istanbul Bosphorus by boarding a boat operating on the Emirgan-Kanlıca line.

Bülent G. claimed that his other detained relatives F.K., S.K., and Y.K. had no involvement or incitement in the incident and that the land issue among them was unrelated to this event. The suspects' procedures at the police station continue from multiple angles.
