Gürhan Üzer, who was on trial for brutally killing his ex-wife Pınar Zorlu by pouring gasoline on her and torturing her, passed away due to pancreatic cancer before the second hearing. The court decided to dismiss the case, while the Zorlu family prevented the defendant's funeral from being held in Antalya. Lawyer Tuğba Kaya said in the hearing, "May he rest in peace."
The case regarding the death of Pınar Zorlu, who was set on fire by her ex-husband Gürhan Üzer in Antalya and lost her 19-day battle for life, has concluded with the defendant's death.
DEFENDANT'S TRIAL HAS BEEN DROPPED
In the second hearing scheduled to be held today at the Antalya 4th High Criminal Court, the court panel announced that the criminal proceedings have been dropped due to the death of the defendant Gürhan Üzer.
HIS FAMILY DID NOT CLAIM HIS FUNERAL EITHER
It was learned that Gürhan Üzer had been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer at Antalya City Hospital since February, had experienced organ failure due to the advancing disease, and had been in intensive care for a long time. His family did not claim his funeral, which was held two days after he passed away on April 21, just before the scheduled hearing.
THEY DID NOT BURY HIM IN ANTALYA
The Zorlu family stated that they did not want the funeral to be buried in Antalya and took the necessary steps. Gürhan Üzer's body was sent to his hometown Istanbul as his family did not request it either.
"MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE"
Pınar Zorlu's lawyer Tuğba Kaya, speaking at the hearing, said, "May his soul rest in peace, we reiterate our demands. We want a criminal complaint to be filed against the place selling gasoline externally." The court panel decided to drop the case, citing Gürhan Üzer's death as the reason. While lawyer Kaya's request for a criminal complaint was rejected, the court panel stated that a separate case should be opened regarding this matter.
