In a statement made on May 9, it was noted that "historical decisions were made based on Abdullah Öcalan's call" during the congress held in two parallel areas, and it was stated that the results would be shared with the public soon. In the PKK's final declaration, it was stated, "The process that began with Leader Abdullah Öcalan's statement on February 27, in light of his multifaceted work and the perspectives he presented in various ways, was successfully completed at our 12th Party Congress held between May 5-7."
The declaration stated, "The Extraordinary 12th Congress of the PKK evaluated that the PKK struggle has shattered the denial and destruction policies against our people, bringing the Kurdish issue to the point of resolution through democratic politics, thus completing the historical mission of the PKK. In this context, the 12th Congress of the PKK made decisions to dissolve the organizational structure of the PKK to be managed and executed by Apo in the process of practical realization and to end the armed struggle methods, thereby concluding the activities carried out under the name of the PKK."
