In a neighborhood in Adapazarı district of Sakarya, according to allegations, residents are trying to catch a person who throws stones at house windows and shines lasers at night, harassing the locals, with their own means. In an incident reminiscent of the movie 'Gulyabani' (a Turkish horror film), neighborhood residents have been keeping night watches for about 6 months to catch the person.
6-MONTH HARASSMENT TURNS INTO ORDEAL In the incident that has been ongoing for about 6 months in Evren Neighborhood, Adapazarı district, it was stated that according to allegations, an unidentified person throws stones at citizens sitting in their homes and gardens at night, shines lasers, and causes discomfort in various ways. Residents, who had cameras installed at their own expense, have been keeping watch in large groups to catch the person who breaks the cameras by throwing stones and continues to cause trouble, but have not yet achieved results.
It was claimed that during a chase between a citizen and the person 3 days ago, the person turned around while fleeing and threw a stone, which hit a citizen's foot and injured him.
"OUR HOMES ARE STONED UNTIL MORNING" Stating that stones are constantly thrown at their roof and they are afraid to go out into the garden, resident Gurbet Karakuş said, "We live in Evren Neighborhood, Adapazarı district. We had never encountered such a thing here for years. 6-7 months ago, he used to come at night. He would pass through the garden and leave. He didn't do anything. For the past week, he has been throwing stones at us, coming to our gardens, and shining laser lights. We can't sleep; our homes are stoned until morning. He comes to us, goes to the neighbor, goes to the other. He doesn't stop at all. Everyone is keeping watch until morning. We are waiting for help. We want action to be taken. He won't stop; he will definitely take someone's life. He throws huge paving stones onto the houses. Last night, the stone he threw almost hit the neighbor's face. The night before, he was shining a laser. He goes into the cornfield as if mocking, running away. The whole neighborhood is here until morning. Everyone is waiting for him, but he just can't be caught, whatever he is. Our nights and days have mixed. We keep watch until 06:00 in the morning. We sleep in the morning and lie down until evening. Those who work can't open their shops, can't go to work. Everyone is tired of this," she said.
"THERE'S A BIGGER FILM THAN GULYABANI HERE" Ateş Aksu, mentioning that he moved to the neighborhood 2 months ago and has a pregnant wife, said, "It's been 2-3 months since I moved here. We came to our own house to get rid of rent, but there's no comfort at all. This situation has been troubling us for 2 months. We're sitting at home, and when there's no sound around, a 'thud' comes from near the window. He shines a laser, throws stones at the ceiling. We're being watched from among the hazelnut trees. I can't sleep comfortably at all. I haven't been able to open my shop for 5 days. Forget myself, my wife is pregnant. Her delivery is near; should I protect myself or my wife? We're in great trouble. We call the police, 2 people come. If we, as 30 village people, can't catch one man, how will 2 police officers catch him? Our lives are in danger; we are in fear. This morning, we entered the house at 06:30 and slept. Our neighbor installed a camera; he detects the camera's rotation angle and throws a stone at it, disabling it. No footage. We see the person, chase him, our friend got injured. His foot is bruised. We expect support. There's a bigger film than Gulyabani here. This place has become Texas; the scenario is literally Texas. My neighbor called me and said, 'We've cornered him, we're going to catch him.' By the time I ran from here to there, the man had fled. While fleeing, he turned and threw a stone, and it hit my leg perfectly. My leg is bruised. I have children at home and a wife; none of them can sleep. When evening comes, my children tremble.
