The new trend among Russian youth has caused horror.

In Russia, young people have started hitting their faces with hammers as part of a dangerous trend called "bonesmashing" in order to have more prominent cheekbones and sharper facial features. It has been claimed that more than 100 people have been injured due to the practice, which is spreading especially among those aged 15-26, and it was reported that some people experienced bleeding and loss of sensation.

In Russia, a dangerous beauty trend that has recently begun to spread again among young people is causing concern. In the practice called "Bonesmashing," young people strike their own faces with hammers and similar hard objects in order to have more prominent cheekbones, defined jawlines, and sharp facial contours.

Participants in the trend believe that during the healing process of small fractures in the facial bones, the bones will become larger and more prominent. However, experts emphasize that this idea has no scientific basis.

MORE THAN 100 PEOPLE REPORTEDLY INJURED

According to reports in the Russian press, most of those who resort to the dangerous practice are young people between the ages of 15 and 26. It is also noted that some adults up to the age of 45 have tried similar methods.

It has been claimed that more than 100 people have been injured and sought medical care due to the trend. However, there is no independently verified official data regarding this number.

In the reported cases, it was stated that one person experienced bleeding and another suffered loss of sensation in part of their face.

THEY MAY LOSE THEIR FACES WHILE TRYING TO BECOME BEAUTIFUL

Doctors note that blows to the facial bones may not be limited to bruising and swelling.

Fractures of the jaw and cheekbones, nerve damage, injuries around the eyes, and impairments in the function of facial muscles can occur.

Repeated blows can also cause hardening of tissues and scar formation. According to experts, in severe cases, the natural structure of the face may change permanently, and surgery may be required to repair the damage.

It is warned that blows especially to the area around the eyes may threaten vision, and loss of sensation due to nerve damage may be permanent.

BEHIND THE DANGEROUS TREND IS "LOOKSMAXXING"

The bonesmashing trend is cited as one of the most extreme examples of the "looksmaxxing" movement, in which young people try to change their appearance as much as possible and reach certain beauty standards.

While some followers of this movement prefer methods such as skin care and exercise, others turn to practices that have no scientific basis and carry serious health risks.

It was previously reported that content explaining this method had spread in Russia, and paid guides on the practice had even been prepared.

CLEAR WARNING FROM DOCTORS: THERE IS NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER

Plastic surgeons state that there is no scientific evidence that deliberately striking the facial bones creates a more attractive facial structure.

According to experts, rather than enabling controlled bone growth, it is possible to encounter fractures, infection, impaired jaw function, and permanent shape changes.

Young people and their families are especially warned that this method, used for the purpose of becoming more beautiful, may lead to irreversible health problems.
