The incident took place on 1004th Street in 100th Year Neighborhood. Officer Mesut Ayyıldız, who served at the Toprakcuma Gendarmerie Station in Safranbolu district, was found dead at his home. It was learned that Ayyıldız, who took leave while his wife was in her hometown, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with his weapon.

Health teams, who arrived at the scene upon notification, determined that Ayyıldız had passed away. Crime Scene Investigation teams also arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. Ayyıldız's lifeless body was taken to the morgue of Karabük Education and Research Hospital for autopsy. It was learned that the officer was from Zonguldak. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
