A fraudster attempting to sell a plot of land worth 20 million lira using a fake identity in Denizli was thwarted by the vigilance of the staff at the land registry office. Following the revelation of the incident, the fraudster was taken into custody, and the staff received a certificate of appreciation.
Recently in Denizli, an individual announced to real estate agents that he would sell a plot of land worth approximately 20 million lira at a reasonable price in the Şirinköy neighborhood of the Merkezefendi district. The individual, who planned to sell the land through real estate agents, reached an agreement with a construction company and applied to the Merkezefendi Land Registry Office.
THE ATTENTION OF THE STAFF BROKE THE GAME
During the transactions, the personnel of the district land registry office identified a discrepancy between the identity photo presented by the individual and the photo registered in the system. Upon the warning of the personnel who reported the situation to the Land Registry Director, the transaction was halted. Detailed investigations revealed that the individual had forged an identity and was attempting to sell land belonging to someone else.
FRAUDSTER DETAINED
It was revealed that the fraudster had no connection with the real owner of the land, who resides abroad and was unaware of the situation. Following the revelation of the incident, the fraudster was detained at the Land Registry Office.
CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION AWARDED
The 20 million lira fraud was prevented thanks to the vigilance of the officials. In a statement made by the Denizli Regional Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, it was stated, "The attempted forgery at the Merkezefendi Land Registry Office, which is affiliated with our Regional Directorate, was prevented without causing any loss of rights or treasury liability, thanks to the attention and dedicated efforts of the office staff. Our General Director Hakan Gedikli has expressed his gratitude to the personnel who played a role in detecting the forgery attempt. Certificates of appreciation have been awarded to the relevant personnel by our Regional Director İlhan Özlü."
