Selçuk Yılmaz, founder and manager of the illegal match streaming platform Selçuksports, was apprehended in Denizli during a joint operation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate, and MIT.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a significant operation was carried out against illegal sports broadcasting activities. As a result of the joint work of the Cyber Crime Branch Directorate and the MIT Regional Directorate, the illegal broadcasting network was uncovered.
ILLEGAL BROADCASTING NETWORK UNDER SCRUTINY
In the examinations conducted, it was determined that Turkish Super League matches were broadcasted without authorization via the website named "Selçuksport" instead of paid platforms. Authorities identified that these broadcasts violated copyright and broadcasting rights.
USERS DIRECTED TO ILLEGAL BETTING SITES
According to the findings obtained within the scope of the investigation, users who entered the site were directed to illegal betting platforms through various links. Additionally, it was detected that posts promoting betting content were also presented to users.
EVALUATED UNDER LAW NO. 7258
Authorities assessed that the activities carried out violated the regulations under Law No. 7258. The investigation was expanded in line with the evidence obtained.
SUSPECT CAPTURED IN DENIZLI
In the continuation of the work, it was determined that Selçuk Yılmaz, the founder and manager of the illegal match broadcasting platform Selçuksports, was located in the Pamukkale district of Denizli. It was learned that judicial proceedings are ongoing against the suspect, who was taken into custody in the organized operation.
