The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality's Zoning teams continue their inspections against food transportation that threatens human health. During inspections at the Antalya Intercity Bus Terminal, the Metropolitan zoning teams and security personnel noticed that a bus company was transporting suspicious materials in garbage bags. Upon inspecting the bags, the teams found approximately 300 kilograms of meat being transported under unhealthy conditions in 9 garbage bags.
MEAT SEIZED
No one came to receive the beef and sheep meat identified as being sent from İzmir, and the meat and meat products were seized. The bus company transporting meat and meat products in garbage bags was subjected to penalties. After the inspections conducted by the Kepez District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams, a report was prepared, and the meat was sent for destruction. Following the inspections of the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry teams, penalties were imposed on the transporting bus company under the Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food and Feed Law No. 5996.
NO COMPROMISE ON ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION
Erdoğan Delice, the Chief of the Intercity Bus Terminal Operations of the Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they do not allow illegal meat transportation that threatens human health, saying, "We detected 300 kilograms of meat in 9 bags transported illegally from İzmir to the Antalya terminal. After the inspections, our Terminal Zoning chief was informed. Then, we contacted the District Directorate of Agriculture teams and carried out whatever legal procedures were necessary. With the coordinated work of our zoning personnel, security personnel, movement staff, and cleaning staff at the Antalya Intercity Bus Terminal, we intervene in suspicious packages without any compromise and immediately initiate the necessary procedures," he said.
