The long-standing investigation into the mafia connections of the fan groups of Inter and Milan, two eternal rivals in Italy, has been completed. The penalty for Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who was questioned as part of the investigation, has been determined. The national football player has been fined 30,000 euros and given a one-match suspension.
The name of national player Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who plays for Serie A giant Inter, was mentioned in the investigation into allegations that the ultra fan groups of the two eternal rivals, Inter and Milan, are connected to the 'Ndrangheta mafia. The national footballer had testified due to his contacts with former Inter ultra leader Marco Ferdico and Antonio Bellocco, who was assassinated, in September 2024.
HE HAD DENIED THOSE ALLEGATIONS
In his statement, Hakan Çalhanoğlu admitted to having met with these individuals, explaining that the reason was to thank them for a banner opened in support after the earthquake disaster centered in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, in February 2023. Çalhanoğlu also denied the claim that he had dinner with the fan leaders, stating that the club he plays for advised him not to meet with these groups.

According to a report in the Italian press outlet Tuttosport; the long-running investigation has been completed, and Hakan Çalhanoğlu's penalty has been determined. The national footballer has been fined 30,000 euros and given a one-match suspension. Hakan Çalhanoğlu will not be able to play in the match where Inter will face Verona in Serie A.
