After a Zumba dance performed on a dining table during a women-specific Mother's Day event at a social facility owned by Sivas Municipality, the unit manager was dismissed and legal proceedings were initiated. The company owner argued that the event was misunderstood.

At the Sivas Municipality facility, following a zumba dance performed on a dining table at an event organized exclusively for women, the responsible person was removed from duty, and the Sivas Municipality has initiated legal proceedings regarding the matter.

ZUMBA DANCE ON THE TABLE

Footage allegedly taken at a social facility owned by the Sivas Municipality had drawn attention. For Mother's Day, a health and wellness center organized an event for women, where a zumba instructor performed a zumba dance on top of a table. After the images of the dance, in which the participating women also joined, appeared on social media, the Sivas Mayor's Office issued a written statement. The statement indicated that the unit responsible had been suspended and legal proceedings had been initiated. The company owner responded to the accusations by emphasizing that the event was a private organization for women.

UNIT RESPONSIBLE REMOVED FROM DUTY

In the written statement, it was said: "The emergence of inappropriate images, unbecoming of our corporate values and societal morals, during an event held at the VIP Hall of our municipality's social facilities has been met with sadness. Initial investigations have revealed that the group, composed entirely of women, who organized the event, misled our facility staff and waiters by stating they would have a private meeting after the meal service, thereby preventing them from entering the hall, and abused this well-intentioned approach to engage in the aforementioned inappropriate behavior. We absolutely do not accept and strongly condemn our facilities, which are common use areas for our citizens, being associated with such unserious behavior. An administrative investigation has been initiated, the relevant unit manager has been suspended, and the legal process is being meticulously carried out."

COMPANY OWNER: WE STATED THERE WOULD BE A WORKOUT SESSION

Ayşegül Bastık, owner of the Healthy Living Center, did not accept the accusations and allegations against them, stating that they had indicated there would be workout sessions before the event, and apologized for the misunderstanding they caused. Bastık emphasized that their instructor is short and had to get on the table so the women could see her, saying: "Upon our members' request, we organized a special Mother's Day breakfast event. We stated that there would be workout sessions at this event. We held the event at the municipality's social facility. It was a very nice event, but it was presented very differently in the press. Here, our sports instructor was insinuated to be a belly dancer. We do not consider her getting on the table because she couldn't reach as an obscenity. We pay great attention to such values. This was presented very differently to smear the municipality and us. We apologize to the public for being misunderstood. This was an event organized entirely for having a fun time. We condemn this violation of privacy and its reflection in the press as if a great immorality occurred at a women-only event. If we misrepresented it, we apologize. Such a situation has not happened before, and we promise it will not happen again. We requested permission by informing that we would hold such an event. They were aware of this. There are also images of our members dancing here."
