Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi spoke about the latest drug operation in which names such as Mabel Matiz, Berkay Şahin, and Tan Taşçı were detained. Minister Çiftçi stated, "Operations were carried out against 25 suspects in 19 provinces. We do not distinguish between famous and non-famous. It is one of our duties to catch and surrender whoever it is."
In the drug operation organized in Istanbul, 18 people including Mabel Matiz, Feyza Civelek, Volkan Bahçekapalı, Onur Tuna, Berkay Şahin, and Tan Taşçı were taken into custody. It was learned that detention orders were issued for 25 people. Minister Çiftçi stated, "An operation was conducted in 19 provinces targeting 25 suspects. We do not discriminate between famous and non-famous. It is one of our duties to catch and hand over whoever they are. We do not make any distinctions. We will continue the fight against drugs with determination. My call to the public: the police can be on the backs of everyone from dealers to barons at any moment. Our struggle will continue. We will not leave society at the mercy of drug traffickers."
DORUKHAN BÜYÜKIŞIK DETENTIONS IN İZMİR
Minister Çiftçi also commented on the suspicious death of 26-year-old Dorukhan Büyükışık, who died on May 13, 2018 in Izmir: "Detention orders were issued for 26 people. Nine are police officers. Five are active duty, three retired, and one has resigned. Operations were carried out in 9 provinces centered in Izmir. The procedures for those in custody are ongoing."
GÜLİSTAN DOKU INVESTIGATION: WHEREVER IT LEADS
Reminding of the Gülistan Doku investigation in Tunceli, Minister Çiftçi said, "We will continue to do our part to shed light on unsolved murders. We will mobilize all our resources to clarify the matter wherever it leads. Nearly 20 teams are continuing their work. Their reports are not yet complete. They are also obtaining additional investigation approvals. Studies are ongoing in multiple dimensions. We are investigating the Gülistan Doku murder from two angles. An investigation is being conducted into whether the investigation was carried out effectively. Additionally, an investigation is being carried out regarding the then governor of Tunceli. The investigation is still ongoing."
ABOUT THE DRUG INVESTIGATION
As part of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, based on tips received, digital materials examined, and information obtained, reasonable suspicions were identified that individuals referred to as celebrities in the public used narcotic and stimulant substances, and an operation was organized.
In this context, teams from the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command carried out an operation targeting 25 suspects at 25 addresses, including 24 addresses in Istanbul's Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Üsküdar districts and 1 address in Muğla, starting from 07:00 AM.
During the operation, searches were conducted at the addresses, and it was learned that among those detained were Mabel Matiz (Fatih Karaca), Feyza Civelek, Volkan Bahçekapalı, Onur Tuna, Berkay Şahin, Osman Haktan Canevi, Aslıhan Turanlı, Kübra İmren Siyahdemir, Mehmet Rahşan, Cansu Tekin, Özgür Deniz Cellat, Tarık Tunca Bakır, Aycan Yağcı, Tuğçe Postoğlu, Eda Dora, Hanzade Gürkanlar, Yasemin İkbal, and Tan Taşçı.
