At a zoo in Cambridge, England, a 30-year-old person threw a 3-year-old boy into an area with crocodiles. The seriously injured child was taken to the hospital, while the suspect, arrested on attempted murder charges, was released on the grounds of being "unfit to provide a statement."
THREW HIM FROM 4.5 METERS INTO THE CAGE
The incident occurred at Johnsons of Old Hurst Zoo in Cambridge. According to allegations, a 30-year-old person threw the 3-year-old boy from a height of approximately 4.5 meters into the area containing crocodiles.
ZOO OWNER RESCUED HIM
Tracey Johnson, the zoo owner who saw the child fall, entered the cage and rescued the little boy. After emergency teams arriving at the scene provided first aid, the seriously injured child was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Following the incident, visitors were evacuated, and the zoo remained closed for a while.
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES
Police stated that the child's condition is serious but stable. Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspect, who is believed to have no prior acquaintance with the child, on charges of attempted murder.
RELEASED ON BAIL
Cambridge Police later announced in a statement that the suspect was released on bail until September 18 on the grounds of being "unfit to provide a statement."
Reports in the British press suggested that the suspect was a mentally disabled individual who came on the trip with his caregiver. It was also stated that the child fell onto a hard surface before rolling into the water.
