"THEY CONVINCED ME TO HAND OVER MY GOLD"

Suspicious of the situation after a while, Kocamaz went to the Ankara Police Department and filed a complaint. In his statement to the police, Kocamaz said, "On June 14, a person who introduced himself as the Mersin TEM Director called me. They said that an ID belonging to me had appeared among suspects caught in Mersin, that these IDs had photos of other people, and that these individuals were FETÖ members bringing money from abroad. They said they were conducting an operation and planning to catch the suspects, asking me to send money to the account. They also convinced me to hand over my gold, claiming they would examine it in a lab to check if the gold previously caught from organization members matched the gold at my home. I left my home in Konutkent, put the gold and money in a bag, and handed the bag to a person in front of Başkent University."
