CHP Chairman Özgür Özel responded to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, who rejected his claims regarding the properties he alleged to own by calling them "figments of imagination."
"LET THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT JUDGE HIM AS THE SUPREME COURT"
Speaking on a live broadcast program, Özel stated: "I say bring it on. If he is not afraid of this, I will take him to court; there are two ways for him to get rid of his immunity. He needs to resign to be tried, and then he can return to his position. The second is simpler; he needs 400 signatures. We have 138, and the rest are with the AK Party. Since he is not running away from justice, since he is clear, let the Constitutional Court judge him as the Supreme Court. The place for a minister to be tried is the Constitutional Court. My asset declaration is in their hands; let's see his asset declaration. For example, if this ID is not in the asset declaration, it means he sold this property, and that will be seen."
WHAT HAPPENED?
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel shared the alleged assets belonging to Justice Minister Akın Gürlek during a press conference held at the CHP Headquarters, stating, "There are a total of 452 million TL worth of real estate or converted real estate. He has acquired more real estate than he could ever buy with his salary in 190 years."
MINISTER GÜRLEK: THE ALLEGATIONS ARE FIGMENTS OF IMAGINATION
Following this statement, Minister Gürlek expressed through a statement on his social media account that the allegations do not reflect the truth. Minister Gürlek wrote, "The statements made by Özgür Özel today regarding me are an open perception operation aimed at misleading the public, based on no evidence. I have been serving my state in various capacities for over 20 years. Together with my spouse, who is a judge, we regularly submit our asset declarations to the relevant authorities in accordance with the applicable legislation. These figments of imagination, which are found in the papers handed to Özgür Özel but have no counterpart in the actual title deed records, are entirely aimed at misleading the public."
"IN THE FACE OF THESE SLANDERS..."
In the continuation of his statement, Minister Gürlek said, "Unfortunately, his approach is not new." He added, "It has been repeatedly revealed that the allegations he previously presented to the public in a loud manner were false. His irresponsible targeting of me due to my fight against terrorism and organized crime during my judicial duties is part of a systematic smear campaign. Those who claim to have real information and documents should address the relevant judicial authorities, not political platforms. In the face of these slanders, I am immediately initiating the necessary legal processes, starting with moral compensation."
