With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, the administrative border line between the provinces of Bitlis and Muş was redefined following the ridges of the Karasu River, Church Hill, and Gevot Hill. The decree also stated that despite the border changes with the new regulation, all rights of the citizens will be preserved.
The administrative border line between Muş and Bitlis has been officially changed with the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette. The said border update was enacted within the scope of Article 2 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442. The Ministry of Interior will be responsible for the field applications and execution of the decision.
WHICH POINTS DOES THE NEW BORDER LINE PASS THROUGH? In the published decision, the new coordinates and natural geographical boundaries separating the administrative borders of the two provinces were clearly mapped. Accordingly, the new line covers the area between the Günkırı Municipality affiliated with the Güroymak district of Bitlis and the Büvetli Village affiliated with the Hasköy district of Muş. The border line starting from the Karasu River in the north proceeds respectively following the ridges of Avzut Burnu, Kilise Tepesi, Küçükhopikan Tepesi, and Gevot Tepesi. The new administrative line ends at the coordinates of Püşürük Tepesi.
Karasu River THE ACQUIRED RIGHTS OF CITIZENS WILL BE RESERVED In the decision, a special proviso was added to ensure that the change in administrative boundaries does not cause grievances for the local population. It was emphasized that due to the administrative border change, all general and special rights of the parties (citizens or legal entities) remaining within the borders of the other province will be preserved, and the border change will not affect existing land titles, land, or usage rights.
