The chairman of the board of İBB Media Inc., Murat Ongun, and the lawyers of Emre Bağdatlı had requested a detention order. Murat Ongun, who was taken into custody, was released by the court to which he was referred with a judicial control condition of a travel ban abroad, as stated by his lawyers Serkan Günel and Kazım Yiğit Akalın.
The lawyer of İBB Media Inc. Board Chairman Murat Ongun, Serkan Günel, and the lawyer of Emre Bağdatlı, Kazım Yiğit Akalın, have been requested to be arrested.
THEY HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO THE PEACE CRIMINAL COURT
According to the information obtained, the lawyers were referred to the Peace Criminal Court with a request for their arrest on the grounds of 'attempting to influence the trial' and 'violating the confidentiality of the investigation.'
WHAT HAPPENED?
Murat Ongun, the right-hand man of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, was arrested in the investigation regarding irregularities at Kültür A.Ş., which is affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). Ongun's lawyers objected to their client's detention, stating in the petition submitted to the Istanbul 5th Peace Criminal Court that the allegations were not based on concrete evidence and that the arrest was made with unlawful evidence.
One of Ongun's lawyers, Serkan Günel, announced on his social media account that he had been detained in the early hours of the morning. Günel stated, "I am currently being detained in the process I started as Murat Ongun's defender in the operation against İBB! Defense cannot be silenced! The truth will come out sooner or later!"

Serkan Günel and Kazım Yiğit Akalın were detained as part of the investigation initiated against them for "attempting to influence the trial" and "violating the confidentiality of the investigation."
STATEMENT FROM IMAMOĞLU'S LAWYER
Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer of the suspended İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Marmara Prison in Silivri, reported that lawyers Serkan Günel and Kazım Yiğit Akalın were detained this morning. Pehlivan stated in a post on his social media account regarding the issue, "Our colleagues Av. Serkan Günel and Av. Kazım Yiğit Akalın were detained this morning. Targeting the defense is an attack on the heart of justice. The detention of lawyers is not law; it is a clear violation of the law. Being a lawyer is not a crime; it is a duty."
