In the investigation regarding the allegation that minor vocational high school students working as interns at the Turkish Grand National Assembly cafeteria were subjected to sexual abuse by staff, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment seeking up to 16 years and 6 months of imprisonment for 5 defendants on charges of "sexual harassment of a child" and "sexual abuse of a child through molestation."
An indictment has been prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the harassment scandal involving intern children working in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that an investigation was initiated based on the allegations that four girls under the age of 18, who applied to the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Child Branch, were harassed by Halil İ.G., Durmuş U., İbrahim B., Ramazan Ç., and Recep S., who worked in the Assembly cafeteria during the period they were interns at the TBMM.
It was stated in the indictment that the girls' statements were taken at the Child Monitoring Center, and as a result, five suspects were detained, with Halil İ.G., Durmuş U., İbrahim B., and Recep S. being arrested, while Ramazan Ç. was released under judicial control.
"QUALIFIED HARASSMENT CRIME AGAINST A CHILD WAS COMMITTED"
The indictment indicated that on the date of the incident, a qualified sexual harassment crime against children was committed in a chain-like manner, taking advantage of the ease provided by the public duty and service relationship, due to being individuals with educational responsibilities towards the girls aged between 15 and 18.
It was recorded that the suspects carried out some of their actions via mobile phone messages, benefiting from the conveniences provided by electronic communication tools, and also committed the crime of sexual exploitation at the level of harassment through their behaviors towards the children both in and out of the workplace.
REQUESTED PENALTIES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED
The indictment prepared with a request for imprisonment of up to 16 years and 6 months for the suspects for the crimes of "sexual exploitation of a child by harassment" and "sexual harassment against a child" was accepted by the Ankara 57th Criminal Court of First Instance.
