In the case of former AKUT President Nasuh Mahruki, who is being tried on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information" due to his posts on social media, the prosecution has requested a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years.

The former President of the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), Nasuh Mahruki, continued to be tried for the crime of 'publicly disseminating misleading information' due to the statements he made on social media. In the hearing held at the Istanbul 15th Criminal Court of First Instance, the defendant Nasuh Mahruki and his lawyers were present.

UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON SOUGHT

In the hearing, the public prosecutor, who presented his opinion on the merits of the case, stated that the defendant Mahruki acted with the intention of creating concern, fear, and panic among the public in a way that would not leave any doubt, allowing an indefinite number of people to see the statements in question. In the opinion presented, it was requested that the defendant Mahruki be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 to 3 years for the crime of 'publicly disseminating misleading information.'

HEARING ADJOURNED

The court, announcing its interim decision, ruled to grant the defendant's lawyer time to prepare a defense against the opinion and stated that there was no need to make a new decision regarding witness testimonies since a decision had already been made in the previous hearing, thus adjourning the hearing.
