WHO IS POPE ROBERT FLEVORT?

Robert Francis Prevost is an American Catholic cleric born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago. He currently serves as the Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and the President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America since 2023.

In the past, he served as the Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru, from 2015 to 2023, and as the Prior of the Order of Saint Augustine from 2001 to 2013. He was declared a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2023.

As of 2025, Cardinal Prevost also holds the title of Cardinal-Bishop of Albano. Following the death of Pope Francis, he is considered one of the potential papal candidates (papabile) in the 2025 papal elections.
