The enraged attacker left the wedding venue, retrieved a pump-action shotgun from his home, and randomly opened fire on the crowd, resulting in the death of a 12-year-old child and injuries to four others. The suspect fled with the weapon into a wooded area but was captured red-handed by gendarmerie teams.
REQUESTED SONG NOT PLAYED, WENT HOME TO GET HIS WEAPON
The incident occurred yesterday around 23:45 at a wedding ceremony held in the courtyard of a school in Emirli Neighborhood, Ödemiş district. According to information received, a person named E.D. (43) attending the wedding requested that the orchestra play a song. Angered that his requested song was not played, E.D. argued with the musicians and those around him, then left the wedding venue in a rage and went home.
RANDOMLY OPENED FIRE ON THE CROWD
Shortly after, the enraged individual returned to the schoolyard with a pump-action shotgun and began firing randomly at the wedding crowd without aiming. In the chaos of panic and screams, 12-year-old Ayaz Çimen and H.B. (30) were seriously injured by the shotgun pellets, while Ü.D. (45), O.Ö. (72), and H.Ö. (22) suffered minor injuries. Upon notification, multiple gendarmerie and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured were taken by ambulances to Ödemiş State Hospital.
12-YEAR-OLD AYAZ COULD NOT BE SAVED
Among the injured being treated at the hospital, 12-year-old Ayaz Çimen, who was in critical condition, could not be saved despite all medical interventions and passed away. Upon receiving the tragic news, the child's relatives suffered nervous breakdowns in the hospital garden. It was learned that the other four injured individuals are continuing their treatment at the hospital.
CAPTURED RED-HANDED IN THE WOODED AREA
After turning the wedding venue into a bloodbath over a requested song, the suspect E.D., who fled with the shotgun into a wooded area under cover of night, was pursued in a large-scale operation by gendarmerie teams. As a result of persistent tracking and an operation, the suspect E.D. was captured red-handed with the crime weapon in the wooded area where he was hiding and taken into custody.
A comprehensive judicial investigation into the incident is ongoing.
