ATTACKER TURNED OUT TO BE AN ISLAMOPHOBE
Information shared by the German press about the attacker revealed that the 50-year-old perpetrator had been living in Germany since 2006 and held permanent residency in the country. He worked as a physician in the city of Bernburg and had made posts on social media indicating that he was "concerned about the rise of Islam in Germany."
Reports indicated that the attacker drove a BMW vehicle into the crowd for at least 400 meters at the Christmas market. The perpetrator was taken into custody following the attack. After the incident, the Christmas market was closed, and people were asked to leave the city center. The attack occurred at the Christmas market set up next to the Magdeburg City Hall near the Elbe River.
