A 25-year-old young man who films extreme sports fell from a height of 6-7 meters while crossing under an overpass in Kadıköy, Istanbul, and broke both of his legs. Just moments before, he narrowly escaped being hit by a vehicle. The young man said, "I do not recommend trying such things. I regret putting traffic and pedestrian safety at risk. Once I recover, I will do similar things again."

İbrahim Koyuncu (25), who lives in Istanbul and shoots extreme sports videos, fell onto the road from a height of 6-7 meters while trying to cross under an overpass, breaking both of his legs.

The incident occurred on March 6 at a pedestrian overpass in the Ayrılık Çeşmesi area of Kadıköy district. Ibrahim Koyuncu, who had recently developed an interest in extreme sports, began sharing his adrenaline-filled videos on his social media accounts. Filming videos hundreds of meters high between skyscrapers or in the gaps of buildings, Koyuncu decided to try crossing under a pedestrian overpass by holding onto the iron bars. During the attempt, his friends also started recording him with their cell phones. After a while, Koyuncu realized he was struggling due to the screws on the overpass and could not continue. As he tried to turn back, he ran out of energy and let himself fall onto the road where vehicles were passing underneath.

His friends, who went to him after he threw himself to the side of the road, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, a medical team was dispatched to the scene. Ibrahim Koyuncu was taken to the hospital by ambulance. During the examination, it was found that he had fractures in both legs, and he was taken into surgery. Ibrahim Koyuncu, who will be treated in the hospital for a while, had his moments recorded continuously.

"I REGRET ENDANGERING TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY"

Koyuncu, who stated that he had filmed similar videos before, said, "I am doing well right now, but it is unclear when I will be discharged. I do not recommend trying such things. Sometimes you have to fall. I think I will progress better than before. That day, the screws under the overpass tired me. I thought, 'I guess I can't get through' and tried to go back. If it had been a flat place, I would have made it. I thought, 'Let me drop so my legs won't break.' I regret endangering traffic and pedestrian safety. I used to do this sport in places where there were no people. Once I recover, I will do similar things again," he said.
