In Izmir Gaziemir, a father B.K., unable to control his anger during an argument over drug use, killed his 21-year-old son Furkan K. with a shotgun. After the incident, the father turned himself in to the police along with his weapon.

In the Gaziemir district of Izmir, a dispute between a father and son over drug use ended in murder. The father, in a fit of rage, shot his 21-year-old son in the chest with a pump-action shotgun, killing him, then went to the police station with the weapon and surrendered.

DRUG SCOURGE TURNED A FATHER INTO A CHILD MURDERER

The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 21:15 in the Aktepe neighborhood of the Gaziemir district. According to the information obtained, a verbal argument broke out between the father, B.K. (46), and his 21-year-old son, Furkan K., due to the young man's drug use. The tension between the son and father quickly escalated into a fight. During the scuffle, the father, B.K., unable to control his anger, took the pump-action shotgun in the house and fired at his son.

HE DIED AT THE SCENE

Furkan K. was seriously wounded as the pellets from the shotgun struck his chest and collapsed in a pool of blood. Upon reports from nearby citizens who heard the gunshots, police and 112 Emergency Health teams were quickly dispatched to the address. Health teams arriving at the scene determined that the young man had lost his life.

Furkan K.'s lifeless body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy after the crime scene investigation teams and the prosecutor on duty completed their work.

FATHER SURRENDERED WITH THE WEAPON

The suspect father, B.K., who left the scene in shock after shooting his own child, went to the police station shortly after with the pump-action shotgun used in the murder and surrendered to the security forces. While the murder weapon was taken into custody, it was learned that the father, who was detained, was still undergoing statement procedures at the police station.
