The family of missing brothers Mahmut and Mustafa Demir in Reyhanlı continues their agonizing wait after the passenger ship they were on capsized off the coast of Girne, TRNC. While father Ahmet Demir said, "We have neither the strength nor the state left from waiting here," older brother Mehmet Demir demanded a statement from authorities, saying, "We have no strength left to endure." Meanwhile, it was learned that Mustafa Demir's wife is pregnant and that he had taken leave with his brother to return to their hometown for a holiday.

Ahmet Demir (62), father of the brothers Mahmut (31) and Mustafa Demir (33) who went missing in the shipwreck off Girne in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said, "Waiting here has drained us of all strength and left us in a sorry state. We are all devastated."

THEY WERE RETURNING HOME FOR A HOLIDAY

Mustafa Demir, a father of two living in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, and his brother Mahmut Demir, also a father of two and like him a wooden formwork master, went to the TRNC 3 months ago to work. Mustafa, whose wife is pregnant, and his brother Mahmut Demir boarded the passenger ship that capsized off Girne yesterday to take leave and return to their hometown for a holiday.

"WE HAVE NO STRENGTH LEFT TO ENDURE"

The Demir brothers' older brother, Mehmet Demir (40), expressing that the uncertainty is wearing the family down, said, "We have no strength left to endure. In the hospital, in intensive care, there is no trace anywhere. Where are they? We have now accepted it; we wonder if they are dead. We are waiting for a statement from the authorities."
