The statement of Ebru Gülan, who was arrested alongside journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy in the "drug" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has emerged. Gülan said, "Mehmet Akif Ersoy and I had a two-year relationship. After our relationship ended, we did not come together in any way. I know the other friends because they are his friends."
The statements of Ebru Gülan, Ufuk Tetik, and Mustafa Manaz, who were arrested along with Mehmet Akif Ersoy in the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, have emerged.
HERE ARE THE ALLEGATIONS
As part of the drug investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 8 suspects on charges of "purchasing narcotic substances for personal use," "accepting or possessing," and "providing a place and means for drug use." Among those detained was former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy. The suspects brought to court, including Ersoy, Mustafa Manaz, Ufuk Tetik, and Ebru Gülan, were arrested. Other suspects Gizem Aybaktı, Buse Öztay, Elif Kılınç, and Dilara Yıldız were released under judicial control.
ALLEGATION OF DISTORTED RELATIONSHIP IN THE PROSECUTOR'S WRITTEN REQUEST
The prosecutor's request for arrest stated that "the suspects provided a place and means for the use of narcotic substances in their own residences, supplied narcotic substances to women who came to their homes, and that Mehmet Akif Ersoy benefited materially and sectorally by engaging women with individuals in his circle."
EBRU GÜLAN: WE WERE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH ERSOY FOR 2 YEARS
In her statement, Ebru Gülan, who was arrested following the shocking allegations, provided notable details. Gülan stated that she had a two-year relationship with Ersoy in the past and said:
"I had a two-year relationship with Mehmet Akif Ersoy. After our relationship ended, we never came together again. I know the other friends because they are his friends. I worked with Ufuk for about a year. After that, I resigned, and we did not meet. I have no communication with the other individuals. I request my release."
MUSTAFA MANAZ: I DO NOT ACCEPT THE CHARGED CRIME
Another arrested individual, Mustafa Manaz, denied the allegations:
"I will repeat my previous defenses. I do not accept the charged crime. I have no connection with anyone. I have been associated with people I have not seen for years. I request my release."
UFUK TETİK: THIS IS A POLITICAL CASE
Ufuk Tetik, one of the detainees, claimed that the investigation is of a political nature and made striking statements:
"I believe this decision is devoid of reality. I am being labeled as someone who is establishing an organization from the places I visit for friend visits. We have no financial transactions, and we do not benefit each other.
I think I am here in response to a political move against Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Nothing was taken from my statement at the gendarmerie other than my statement to the prosecutor. I do not know why I was charged with these allegations. I want it to be specifically recorded that this is not a judicial case but a political one. I request my release."
