In the Serik district of Antalya, 3 people lost their lives in an armed fight that broke out over a right-of-way issue. After the incident, the suspect Ahmet Bayar, who surrendered, was arrested and confessed to his crime in his statement, saying, "Four people got out of the vehicle that flashed its headlights at me and walked towards me. They grabbed my arm and tried to pull me into the vehicle. I fired with my licensed pistol that I had with me."
A dispute over yielding the right of way in the Serik district of Antalya ended in tragedy. Three people who were shot with a pistol in the ensuing fight lost their lives, and the suspect, who surrendered after the incident, was arrested.
DISPUTE TURNS INTO ARMED FIGHT The incident occurred around 01:30 at night on the Üründü road in Kökez neighborhood. A dispute arose between Emre Savran, Bilgin Korkut, Oğuz Avcı, Ali Tunç, and Ahmet Bayar, who was passing by, over yielding the right of way.
Ahmet Bayar, who was identified as a forest ranger in the Gündoğmuş district, opened fire on the group with a pistol he had with him. Upon hearing the gunshots, citizens in the area alerted the police and medical teams, who were dispatched to the scene.
THREE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES Medical teams determined that Bilgin Korkut and Oğuz Avcı died at the scene. The injured Emre Savran was taken to Serik State Hospital by his friend Ali Tunç. Despite all medical interventions, Savran could not be saved.
After the incident, Ahmet Bayar surrendered at the Serik District Police Department along with his gun.
“THEY WALKED TOWARD ME” In his statement to the police, Ahmet Bayar said, "Last night, while I was drinking alcohol in my car on the Üründü road of Serik Friday market, a vehicle from the opposite direction flashed its headlights at me. This led to an argument between us. Later, 500 meters ahead, four people got out of the vehicle that had flashed at me and walked toward me. They grabbed my arm and tried to pull me into their vehicle. I fired my licensed pistol that I had with me."
Ahmet Bayar ARRESTED After completing procedures at the police station, Ahmet Bayar was sent to the courthouse under heavy security. Brought before the judge, Bayar was arrested and sent to prison.
THREE FRIENDS BID FAREWELL The bodies of Emre Savran, Oğuz Avcı, and Bilgin Korkut were handed over to their relatives after procedures at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. The three friends were laid to rest at Akbaş Cemetery following afternoon funeral prayers in Serik.
