FREEDOM DAWN OPERATION

With the armed groups opposing the regime launching an operation against Aleppo on November 27, the Syrian regime forces entered into cooperation with the terrorist organization PKK/YPG and handed over some areas to the organization. The terrorist organization began to fortify these areas by bringing reinforcements from the east of the Euphrates River to the Aleppo region.

PKK/YPG'S OCCUPATION OF TEL RIFAT

YPG/PKK terrorists captured Tel Rifat and some surrounding settlements in February 2016 with the support of Russian airstrikes. The terrorist organization displaced approximately 250,000 civilians from Tel Rifat and its surroundings, with this population seeking refuge in areas close to the Turkish border.

The terrorist organization PKK/YPG, which occupied the district of Tel Rifat, tried to hold the district with the cooperation of the Bashar Assad regime and its supporters. After the armed groups opposing the Assad regime entered the city center of Aleppo on November 29, regime forces withdrew their elements from Tel Rifat.
