A teacher caught on camera kissing a student in class in China has been fired. Mr. Xu was filmed by other students while behaving closely with a 16-year-old girl at a school in the Yubei district of Chongqing, in southwestern China. The 30-second footage, taken with a mobile phone, sparked significant backlash when it was shared online a few days ago, according to a report by People's Daily Online. The video shows the bald, bespectacled teacher kissing and touching the young girl, who is trying to turn away from him, next to the office window. It then shows the teacher holding the girl's waist and starting to kiss her neck. These shocking images have generated considerable interest and debate across China, leading to calls for action against the school. Following the emergence of the footage, local authorities and the Yubei District Education Council launched an investigation. Initial findings confirmed that the video was authentic and that the teacher had seriously violated professional conduct rules. The education council announced that Xu had been dismissed while investigations into other staff at the school were ongoing. The school stated, "The teacher seriously violated professional conduct rules and was removed from his position. We have zero tolerance for such behavior, especially from teachers." This disturbing incident follows a series of similar cases in schools and colleges across China. Last month, another teacher was fired for making two students kneel on the ground as a punishment and using them as footstools.
