After the AK Party MKYK meeting, spokesperson Ömer Çelik made an important warning regarding the Iran-Israel war. Çelik stated, "Bombs are being dropped on nuclear facilities. A nuclear threat is emerging. This threat could lead to consequences that may leave the entire region in distress."
The Central Decision and Management Board (MKYK) of the AK Party convened at the AK Party Headquarters under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Many topics were discussed at the meeting, primarily the Israel-Iran war. After the meeting, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made statements regarding the agenda.
Key points from Spokesperson Çelik's statements are as follows:
"Our organizations are political schools. Both the main branch and the women's and youth branches are preparing comprehensively. We will have our camp in mid-July. We will evaluate the upcoming period with the participation of our President.
"NUCLEAR DANGER EMERGING IN WAR"
Israel is committing a great genocide in Gaza. While the Russia-Ukraine war continues, we are addressing these issues in detail. As a result of Israel's unjust and unlawful attacks on Iran, there is currently a situation where bombs are being dropped directly on civilian people. We are following an agenda where nuclear danger is emerging. Bombs are being dropped on nuclear facilities. The nuclear threat is emerging. This danger could lead to results that could leave the entire region in distress.
Despite being much more dangerous than the nuclear plants involved in the conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, the fact that the facilities in Iran are not being brought to the agenda is extremely instructive. With Israel's attack on Iran, a picture has emerged where all conditions, including the UN condition, have been violated. It is a grave picture in terms of the validity of international law. Iran is a party to nuclear agreements, while Israel, despite having nuclear weapons, is not a party. Here, our President has clearly stated his principle regarding this issue from the beginning. He said, 'We do not want anyone in the region to possess nuclear weapons.'
While none of these conflicts existed, and before the genocide began, our President was meeting with many leaders in New York. There, he told Netanyahu, 'You criticize others for their nuclear activities, but you yourself possess nuclear weapons.' While negotiations between the US and Iran were ongoing in Oman, Israel attacked. Israel's attack is, in a way, an attack on the negotiation table. Today's agenda is whether the Strait of Hormuz will be closed by Iran. While bombs are being dropped on nuclear facilities, and Iran is being bombed, two things stand out. First, the nuclear danger is a greater threat than the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Although Israel is the aggressor, those who make feeble statements about Israel's aggression express that Iran's response will have grave consequences.
Before the press conference today, I checked which facilities Israel had hit. They are directly targeting civilian targets. They are hitting hospitals and universities. There is no legitimacy in Israel's attack on Iran under the pretext of nuclear facilities. If the goal is to prevent nuclear weapons, then why are you hitting civilian infrastructure? We condemn all kinds of attacks on Iran. We fully support Iran's security, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity. An attack on a UN member country is unacceptable in any form.
After October 7, in his first statement, Netanyahu talked about establishing the David Corridor, fulfilling certain prophecies, and changing the map of the Middle East. This has nothing to do with Israel's security. The issue here is the aggressive behavior of the Netanyahu government as a terrorist organization. From the moment information was received regarding this attack, all necessary measures have been taken for Turkey's security by our President's instructions, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), and other units. All units have carried out their duties in a state of alert.
Now, a picture has emerged where deep conflicts could arise in the region. While news about Iran's retaliation is being followed, it is important to emphasize that Israel's aggression continues. Today, Israel hit civilian infrastructure. No one can talk about regime change by attacking another country. Talking about regime change, especially shifting an attack to regime change, such as targeting the religious leader in Iran, is absolutely unacceptable. Many murders have been committed by the Netanyahu government so far. Any stance regarding regime change in Iran or targeting the religious leader represents a new phase of brutality.
There is no basis for anyone to talk about Israel's security. Today, it is the aggressiveness and attacks of the Netanyahu government that put Israeli civilians in the most insecure environment. The greatest threat to Israel is the Netanyahu government itself. It is unacceptable for any regime with power and bombers in the world to attempt to transform others. The American ambassador mentioned that America would not rush after regime change. We welcomed this positively. Everyone has seen the results of this in Afghanistan and Iraq. The propaganda that Israel is doing should not turn into a form of politics. No one should have an approach to change anyone's regime or target high-level management.
Turkey is in control of its agenda. It manages its own policies consistently. There is no regression, delay, or relaxation in the goal of a terror-free Turkey. We have a matured strategy regarding the goal of a terror-free Turkey. Our approach continues exactly as it is, with the concrete, inclusive, and complete realization of disarmament in the coming months, and this being monitored by the TSK and MIT. We said that a terror-free Turkey would inspire a terror-free region policy. Many power centers are trying to design the region through terrorist organizations without directly entering into conflict. In this context, we are continuing our work regarding a terror-free Turkey according to the planned timeline, strategy, and implementations. At this stage, the main goal is the disarmament of the terrorist organization and the confirmation of the weapons through a verification mechanism involving the TSK and MIT.
