The US-based technology giant HP has announced that it will lay off 6,000 employees as part of its AI-focused transformation plan. The company anticipates saving approximately $1 billion annually by 2028 through the use of artificial intelligence.
US-based computer and printer manufacturer HP announced that it will lay off thousands of employees worldwide due to the increasing use of artificial intelligence technologies. According to the company's latest annual report, between 4,000 and 6,000 positions will be eliminated by the end of 2028. This corresponds to about 10% of HP's workforce.
1 BILLION DOLLARS IN SAVINGS EXPECTED
HP stated that this move aims to enhance the use of artificial intelligence, increase innovation power, and improve customer satisfaction. The report indicated that approximately 1 billion dollars in savings is expected annually by 2028 due to artificial intelligence, with restructuring costs initially estimated at 650 million dollars.
Many companies in the technology sector are also resorting to layoffs for similar reasons. Giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have announced plans to reduce their workforce to shift resources towards artificial intelligence. Last month, Amazon announced that it would eliminate 14,000 administrative positions due to organizational changes brought about by artificial intelligence.
