THE CAUSE OF THE FAMILY'S DEATH IS "POISONING FROM PESTICIDE"
The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues regarding Kadir Muhammet Böcek (6) and Masal Böcek (3), who fell ill at the hotel where they were staying in Fatih, and their mother Çiğdem Böcek and father Servet Böcek, who lost their lives in the hospital.
In the letter sent by the prosecutor's office to the peace criminal court, it was stated that in the opinion received from the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) regarding the exact cause of death of the family members, it was understood that the deaths were not due to food poisoning, but rather due to poisoning caused by the pesticide applied to kill insects at the hotel where they were staying.
4 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN RELEASED
The letter indicated that the suspects, kokoreç seller E.E, café operator F.M.O, lokum seller F.T., and mussel seller Y.D., were operating in the food sector, and it was understood that there was no causal link between the actions of the suspects and the deaths of the family members.
It was noted in the letter that it was understood that keeping the suspects in custody would be contrary to the principle of proportionality, and it was requested that the suspects be released. The duty peace criminal court decided to release the suspects.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Böcek family, who arrived in Istanbul from Germany on November 9 and stayed at a hotel in Fatih, went to the hospital by taxi on the morning of November 12, and after examination and treatment, returned to the hotel where they were staying.
The family, who fell ill again, was taken to the hospital by an ambulance called to the hotel around 1:00 AM on November 13, and despite intervention on the same day, the children could not be saved. The mother, who was treated at Taksim Training and Research Hospital, passed away on November 14, and the father on November 17.
Two tourists staying at the same hotel as the family were also treated at the same hospital for nausea and vomiting complaints. A third person who was staying in the same room and was with the patients as a companion was hospitalized for examination due to low heart rate.
After the police team's investigation within the scope of the investigation, the hotel was sealed. The opinion prepared by the Ministry of Justice Forensic Medicine Institution 1st Specialization Board regarding the death of the Böcek family was included in the investigation file.
In the opinion, it was stated that the deaths of the mother Çiğdem Böcek, father Servet Böcek, and children Kadir Muhammet Böcek and Masal Böcek did not occur due to food poisoning, based on the autopsy, laboratory examinations, and evaluations made by the board.
The prepared opinion reported that the deaths of the members of the Böcek family occurred due to poisoning from the pesticide applied to kill insects at the hotel where they were staying.
