Tensions are escalating between İYİ Party Gaziantep Deputy Mehmet Mustafa Gürban, who is allegedly set to join the AK Party according to Ankara circles, and İYİ Party Spokesperson Buğra Kavuncu. Reacting strongly to Kavuncu's statement regarding the transfer claims, "We cannot vouch for anyone's honor," Gürban immediately called for Kavuncu's resignation and expulsion from the party.
The resignation claims in the İYİ Party have brought along a major crisis. It stirred up the backstage when Gaziantep Deputy Mehmet Mustafa Gürban, who is alleged to join the AK Party, removed the "İYİ Party" tag from his social media account and cut off communication with the party administration.
KAVUNCU: "WE CANNOT VOUCH FOR ANYONE'S HONOR"
Following these claims, İYİ Party Spokesperson Buğra Kavuncu, responding to the question "Is there a deputy who will join the AK Party from İYİ Party?" in a program he attended, stated that they cannot vouch for anyone's honor, but the İYİ Party group is tightly united and he does not think such a possibility exists.
Kavuncu also, while answering a question about Gürban, noted that he tried to reach him but his phone was off, and since he could not establish communication, he could not say they are very united with him.
A VICIOUS RESPONSE FROM GÜRBAN
Following these statements, Mehmet Mustafa Gürban published an extensive text on his social media account, avoiding a direct response to the claims that he would switch to the AK Party while reacting extremely harshly to Kavuncu's words. Criticizing that someone who cannot vouch for the honor, dignity, and integrity of İYİ Party deputies holds the spokesperson position, Gürban accused Kavuncu of being the "spokesperson of what."
In the continuation of his statement, Gürban reminded of members who previously joined the party by resigning from the MHP or AK Party, highlighting a major contradiction. He questioned, according to Kavuncu's logic, whether these people would also be considered dishonorable, and whether those who left the MHP when İYİ Party was founded fall under this definition, drawing attention to the discrepancy between party policy and the spokesperson's remarks.
Stating that he does not accept this contradiction and the mindset that questions the honor of deputies, Gürban expressed that Kavuncu should be immediately expelled or, if he has honor, should resign himself. Emphasizing that he has lived with honor for forty-six years, never chased tenders or fawned over mayors, Gürban stressed that it is impossible for him to be in the same party with someone who says he cannot vouch for their honor.
