The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, expressed his satisfaction with the decision of the terrorist organization PKK to lay down arms, considering this step as an important development for the consolidation of the peace process. In his statement, Barzani announced that he welcomed the PKK's decision to lay down arms in an official ceremony.
"THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA"
In his statement regarding the disarmament ceremony attended by KRG officials, opinion leaders, and Turkish press members, Barzani expressed that this development could mark the beginning of a new era, stating, "This step is an important and hopeful phase in building the peace process on solid foundations. We believe it will prepare a strong ground for the process to take the right course."
"KRG READY TO PROVIDE ALL KINDS OF SUPPORT"
Emphasizing that the KRG is ready to provide all kinds of support to the process, Barzani said, "As always, we are ready to offer our full support for the success of the peace process. We are determined to provide the necessary facilitation and to take on our role." In his statement, Barzani also drew attention to the sensitive situation in the region, saying, "This process begins at a time when the Middle East is going through a very sensitive and critical period. Therefore, all parties need to make maximum effort. We must not forget that peace is vital not only for Turkey but for all the peoples of the region."

Barzani extended his special thanks to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support of the process, stating, "I express my gratitude to President Erdoğan for leading and supporting the process. I respectfully thank Devlet Bahçeli, Abdullah Öcalan, and everyone who contributed to the establishment of peace."
During the ceremony held in the Casene cave located between the city of Sulaymaniyah and the Dukan district of the KRG, dozens of PKK militants, including both women and men, burned their weapons, announcing that the organization would end its armed struggle. This development was interpreted as a preparation for the organization to turn towards the political arena.
