The President of ASAD, Murat Doğanay, highlighted Turkey's strategic and economic advantages in transporting the 122 trillion cubic meters of natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe. Doğanay stated that transporting gas through Turkey would reduce costs from 11 dollars to 6 dollars compared to liquefaction methods, presenting a significant opportunity for Europe, and emphasized the key role of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in this energy equation.

The President of the Eurasia Strategic Research Foundation and Platform (ASAD), Murat Doğanay, emphasized Turkey's central role in delivering energy resources from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe during a symposium held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with the participation of President Ersin Tatar. Doğanay highlighted the importance of the Cyprus-centered "Two-State Solution" and the "Blue Homeland Doctrine" in terms of regional energy security and economic potential.

Doğanay stated that the approximately 122 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves discovered in the Eastern Mediterranean hold critical strategic value not only for Turkey's energy independence but also for Europe's energy supply security. In his speech, Doğanay focused on the economic advantages of the Turkish route for delivering these reserves to Europe and presented a striking cost comparison.

HALF THE DIFFERENCE IN GAS TRANSFER COSTS

Doğanay noted that the current cost of transporting natural gas extracted from the south of Cyprus to Europe in liquefied form is $11 per unit, while this cost could nearly halve to around $6 if the same gas is transported via pipeline through Turkey. He expressed that this economic difference represents a strategic turning point for Europe's long-term energy supply security, emphasizing that reconfiguring Eastern Mediterranean energy routes centered on Turkey is both a rational choice and a strong necessity for regional cooperation.

TRNC: A KEY PLAYER IN THE ENERGY SECURITY EQUATION

Doğanay clearly outlined the position of the TRNC in this strategic equation. He stated that the TRNC is not just a diplomatic entity but an integral part of Turkey's long-term energy, security, and foreign policy strategy in the Eastern Mediterranean. He expressed that the TRNC should be seen as an important balancing factor in the face of energy competitions and increasing military presence in the region.

Doğanay added that the symposium aims to present academic knowledge and strategic insights to the decision-making mechanisms in Ankara and Nicosia, emphasizing that the rightful struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people is an indispensable element for regional peace and energy security.
