The U.S. administration announced that Steven Fagin, who is currently serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, has been appointed as the civilian director of the Civil-Military Coordination Center established to implement President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza plan.
According to a written statement from the U.S. Department of State, Ambassador Fagin is preparing to play an important role in the ceasefire process in Gaza.
FIRST ASSIGNMENT MADE
Fagin, who has been the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen since 2022, has been appointed as the civilian director of the Civil-Military Coordination Center opened this week to implement Trump's 20-point Gaza plan. This appointment was announced to the public during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the region, and the senior diplomat is expected to play an active role in the ceasefire process in Gaza.
HE HAS HELD MANY POSITIONS RELATED TO THE MIDDLE EAST
Fagin, who served at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad during the 2020-2021 period and in Erbil during the 2018-2019 period, is known as a senior diplomat who has held positions related to the Middle East in the ministry for many years.
Under the command of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the military leadership of the center opened this week in southern Israel is also held by U.S. Army Central Command Commander General Patrick Frank.
