OBSCENE PHOTOS OF A YOUNG CHILD FOUND ON HIS PHONE

On February 3, during an operation by police teams in Sakarya related to child obscenity, R.Y., the former Turkish Red Crescent Hendek Branch President, who was found to have obscene child photos on his phone, and Z.K., who was determined to have disseminated obscene photos of her child, were taken into custody. After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were arrested and sent to prison. The indictment prepared against the suspects was accepted by the Hendek 1st Criminal Court of First Instance. The two defendants appeared before the judge for the third time. The detained defendants R.Y. and Z.K. participated in the hearing from prison via SEGBIS, while their lawyers were present in the courtroom.

DEFENDANTS REPEATED THEIR DEFENSES

Given the floor during the hearing, detained defendant R.Y. said, 'First of all, I am sorry to appear before you for such an incident. I have no obsession with children. If such a situation existed, I would not have voluntarily given my phone password to law enforcement. There is no flight risk. I repeat my previous defenses. I do not accept the accusations. There are no such photos on my phone. They are in the deleted folder. I deleted these images as soon as I saw them. If there was intent, I would not have deleted them. I would not have given my password to the police. I request my release and acquittal,' repeating his earlier defenses. The other detained defendant, Z.K., stated that she did not accept the accusations and requested her acquittal and release.
