A Woman Who Took Naked Photos in Mexico Was Detained In La Paz, Mexico, 30-year-old Olga Larrea got into trouble after taking naked photos at the Pearl Monument, which attracts a lot of tourists. The incident unfolded as follows: On Saturday afternoon, Larrea arrived at the Pearl Monument, which is shaped like an open seashell, with a photographer by her side. The woman climbed onto the pedestal of the statue and suddenly took off her dress and threw it to the photographer while dozens of people were around her. She then began to pose completely naked on top of the statue. During this time, vehicles on the coastal road slowed down, and people around watched the event in shock. After the photo shoot was over, Larrea asked the photographer for her dress and got down from the statue. However, the police who arrived at the scene immediately detained her. Larrea, who lives in Mexico City, was released after paying a fine of 3,365 pesos (approximately 163 dollars) after being taken to the police station. After the incident, Larrea shared the photos from the shoot on Facebook but deleted them following the backlash. However, in a statement on social media, she expressed that she did not regret her actions, writing: "I was arrested just for existing. Why is the human body censored while violence is not? Nudity is natural; it is not disturbing. We should normalize everything that is human." Larrea's actions drew significant backlash on social media. Users commented, "If she wants to take naked photos, she can do it in private spaces. It is unacceptable to use a historical statue in this way." Some users argued that just receiving a monetary fine was not a sufficient punishment. Local authorities announced that they would increase security measures along the coastline to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
